Amazing powdered items: powdered donuts, powdered sugar, & face powders! In the spirit of loving life’s messiest substance, I decided to hit you all up with info on the NYX Mineral “Set It & Don’t Fret It” Finishing Powder, which runs for the acceptable price of $9.99.
This is a loose powder, with a nice sifter lid at the top that claims to give a flawless finish with just enough color to rock it solo on a bare face. It comes in 2 shades: Light/Medium and Medium/Dark, but I think they should be renamed “Light” and “Medium” for honesty; there is nothing dark about shade number 2.
Things Worth Crying Over: I have many complaints. My first complaint is that they tried to convince me to wear this on my face by itself, knowing good and well that it would only work if I was doing a Casper the Friendly Ghost cosplay. Step up the shade range, please! Secondly, this stuff has wild flashback! I made the mistake of setting my under eye area with it – not even baking, just setting – and I was lit like pyrotechnics at a concert. Thankfully, this doesn’t happen with every use, but it happens enough to have me weary. Lastly, it’s not super mattifying and sometimes makes my foundation look patchy.
Things Worth Jumping for Joy: It is a really soft product. I kind of just want to play with it, because the texture is so nice. Also, the packaging is a total win! It has a screw off lid and powder doesn’t fly everywhere when you open it up. I’m used to weak packaging game, so NYX has definitely spoiled me in this department. It also does give your skin instant – but not long lasting mattifying action. Think of it as a blotting powder.
I personally have not had the best luck with this product, despite its great reviews online. Other people have been baking, controlling 3 tons of oil, and getting the smoothest skin of their life with this product. I, unfortunately, have yet to get an invite to that group.
Have you tried this powder?
Thanks for reading!
Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!
