April Loves

This is one of the few months where I have been trying out a whole lot of new products and have felt surprisingly ‘blah’ about most of them. Though I am a little upset that I spent my money on so many wack items, I do have a newfound appreciation for all of my tried and true products! Your girl is refreshed, renewed, hydrated, and ready to enthuse about all the lovely stuff that had been in her collection this whole time!

Revlon ColorStay Makeup for Combo/Oily Skin

This is actually my favorite foundation of all time, but I had been passing over it for a while in favor of trying out products with “flashier” packaging and formulas. To be honest, I don’t need my foundation to carry all of these futuristic gimmicks. I just need it to work! I have never been failed by this foundation and will probably be rocking with it for years to come!

Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara

Here’s another oldie, but a goodie! This was one the first mascaras that I ever bought. I’ve tried out other cult classics and always come running back to this one. It’s very black, gives me the separation that I’m looking for, and truly volumizes and lengthens my lashes. Plus, I just love the loud yellow and purple the packaging!

Elf Shimmering Facial Whip

This is $1 well spent! I’m not a highlight queen or anything, but the trend is growing on me thanks to this product. The formula is very thick and a little goes a long way. It gives the ultimate long-wearing glow with a little bit of shimmer. I typically use it as a base for other highlights or by itself for a more natural glow.

Proactiv Revitalizing Toner

My mom used to be a huge Proactiv believer. Growing up, she would go to the mall for the sole purpose of using their Proactiv vending machine. I don’t remember it ever doing much for her skin, but I loved the smile on her face when she bought a new product. She has since leveled up to Mary Kay and left me with multiple Revitalizing Toners. I started using them after my acne revival (RIP my once clear skin) and they’ve been a great addition to my skincare routine. They pick up any excess dirt that’s on my face without drying out or irritating my skin like my past toners did. I am pleased!

Casey Holmes

Ya girl is obsessed! I have a huge thing for southern content creators – I just so happen to be a southerner myself – which drew me to Casey from the very beginning. Plus, her videos are fairly relaxed and super informative! I have also been watching her vlog channel as well, because my guilty pleasure is watching vlogs where nothing interesting really happens. I’m just like, “Yes, Casey! I would love to watch you make this veggie soup!”

JOHNNYSWIM Georgica Pond

One of my goals for 2017 is to continue to listen to more full albums. I was never planning to listen to all of Georgica Pond, but Johnnyswim’s “First Try” (the best song on the album, in my opinion) had been stuck in my head for a week so I decided to give it a listen. I was so impressed! It’s folksy at times, bluesy at others, and a bit country in some moments, and an all around great listen. Plus, you’ll probably like it if you’re a fan of HGTV’s Fixer Upper like I am because their song “Home” is the theme song!

Thanks for reading!

Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!

  1. The elf highlighters are amazing. I have one and I use is a lot. Do you apply it before of after foundation?

    1. It depends! Sometimes I mix it with my foundation for an all over glow, or pop it on my cheekbones before foundation for a super natural look, but usually I apply it after foundation to get the most intensity!

      1. I have never mixed it with foundation! That’s a great idea! I always apply it before foundation, and then sometimes apply a powder over the top.
