In a smooth 25 minutes my makeup takes me through a full yoga practice, a Netflix binge, and a Princess Diana into Wonder Woman quick change. If you couldn’t tell, my makeup makes me feel good and yours should too! Here are some tips for turning your drab makeup routine into a positive and life changing experience!
Tip 1: Find some entertainment!
Don’t merely find time to do your makeup. Find time to treat yourself! The swishing of my concealer wand and puffs of my powder are always the background to a great show, movie, or podcast! Positivity and relaxation set the tone for the rest of my day!
Tip 2: Don’t sweat the small stuff!
Is one brow higher than the other? Don’t worry – even twins are there own unique and individual people! Your wing a little wonky? Pat yourself on the back for being fearless – who else around you is even trying a wing today? Relish in the success of “I did this and I’ll continue to get better at doing this!” instead of “This didn’t turn out how I planned!”
Tip 3: Wear a power piece!
A power piece is a piece of your makeup routine that you know you can do well or will look good. It’s something that you apply and are confident in the fact that you’ll look good all day long! Common power pieces for me include: a fierce wing (courtesy of the Elf Creme Eyeliner) or a “your lips, but better” lipstick in an ultra comfortable formula (my fave is the Ulta Matte Lip Creme in Courageous)!
Tip 4: Feel good, do good!
The best way to let your makeup make you feel good is to do good things while you’re wearing it. Maybe you and your favorite highlight go out and take down some super villains or you ace a quiz while looking through the world’s longest lashes. You might do some self care and drink 8 glasses of water in one day as you sport the best brows of your life. Recognize your hard work and success wherever you meet it!
