5 Life-Ruining (and Amazing) Shows to Do Your Makeup To

Steps to a magical makeup routine: drink lots of water, moisturize your skin, use a primer, and pull up some wildly addictive Netflix programming! My philosophy to makeup is that it should be fun. Showing off your creativity and practicing cool techniques is already a great time, but you can double the fun with a great show! If your routine is currently entertainment free (of if your Netflix watchlist is just a bit empty), here are some recommendations fit for every makeup routine!

Young & Hungry (Ideal Routine Time: 20 Minutes)

Hannah Montana? Miley Cyrus? Who are these people? My past Disney queen obsession is currently Emily Osment, who plays Young & Hungry’s main character, Gabi. She’s personal chef to an ultra-wealthy app developer who she has an ongoing “will they or won’t they just be together and discover eternal happiness” relationship with. It’s a Freeform comedy, so you can anticipate unnecessary laugh tracks, sticky situations, and a very easy watch. It’s not comedy gold, but it’s definitely your makeup routine’s BFF.

A Young Doctor’s Notebook (Routine Time: 20-25 Minutes)

This show, while also a comedy about a young professional who ends up in sticky situations, is pretty much the opposite of Young & Hungry. Daniel Radcliffe plays a young Russian doctor whose life is narrated by the older version of himself. He’s struggling with a drug addiction; the people in the rural community he’s in are struggling with syphilis. It’s one wild and dark comedy.

Riverdale (Routine Time: 40 Minutes)

This isn’t your parents’ version of Archie! Yes, this CW drama is based on the comic book series, but don’t fret if you aren’t familiar with it, since this is its own update on the universe. Essentially, it’s a murder mystery, teen romance, and musical all in one. Throw in the fact that Cole Sprouse from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody plays Jughead Jones and I can’t think of any reason why you aren’t already watching it!

American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson (Routine Time: 45 Minutes – 1 Hour)

I thought I was reasonably educated about the trial of OJ Simpson, but boy was I wrong! There’s high speed chases, dramatic speeches, lies, deceit, cheating scandals, divorce, and a whole lot of unnecessary football metaphors courtesy of “The Juice.” Plus, it has all of your faves: Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr., John Travolta, David Schwimmer, and Malcom-Jamal Warner! Your jaw will be dropping all episode long (which is great, since it’s way easier to apply mascara with your mouth open)!

Sherlock (Routine Time: 1 Hour and 30 Minutes)

Are you looking for a companion to the most long-winded, dramatic, and fierce face of your life? Well, Sherlock Holmes and his BFFL, John Watson, have got you covered! Join them as they solve mystery after mystery including: demon puppies and bunnies, the world’s most successful dominatrix, and Victorian ghost brides. It’s and hour and a half of twists, turns, and great fun! If you haven’t already watched it, make it your makeup routine’s new best friend! Already seen it before? Well, it just gets better with age!

What’s on your Netflix watchlist?

Thanks for reading!

Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!
