Growing up, my parents kept my brother and I on a strict morning schedule for school breaks and the weekends, and I hated it. Unfortunately, old habits die hard, meaning that my body wakes me up every morning at around 9 with a mild compulsion to clean. Thankfully, I’ve included a lot more moments for relaxation and have made my mornings something to look forward to. Here is my winter break morning routine.
I always set an alarm in the morning, even when I don’t have anywhere to be, and typically wake up about 5 minutes before it goes off. During winter break, I wake up at 9 and hang out on my phone for about half an hour. Then I immediately make my bed. When I was a kid, I hated that I had to make my bed every morning, but now I genuinely feel sad if I don’t. I firmly believe that making my bed sets me on the path for accomplishment and organization. It is my belief that if I start my day by accomplishing one simple task, I’ll be better prepared to take on any other challenge that comes my way!
This meal is about 85% as extra as my meals get when I have the time to invest. Check it out: the pancakes, the omelette, the fruit, the juice, the water, and the cappuccino! My breakfast game is too strong! I was really feeling the Christmas spirit, so I played the Pentatonix PTXmas album in the background during the creation (and destruction) of this meal.
If you read my baking posts, you probably know that I’m a mildly anxious person, which is why I always try to make my mornings as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. It’s like starting the day with a chill pill. I finish up my hot drink – this time a cappuccino, but usually some tea – and watch a video or 5 on YouTube. Over the past few months, I’ve become addicted to videos from Olympic diver, Tom Daley, so I definitely had to check out his and his husband’s Christmas Home Tour. They take festive to the next level.
Taking pictures is typically the most tedious part of the blogging process for me, which is why I like to knock them out early. On this specific morning I was working on a post for the Maybelline Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer. To see the general process for how I do all of my photo,s check out the link here.
This was the most dreaded part of the morning. After 2-3 weeks, it was finally time to wash my hair. I didn’t bring my normal shampoo and conditioner home with me, because I usually just use my mom’s, but this time around she was all out of the good stuff. I was stuck using some cheap olive oil shampoo that made my hair feel like actual plastic. She also only had the mini bottles of conditioner that come in those at-home relaxer kits, which wasn’t going to work for me. I decided to make the best of what was available to me and spray in a lot of leave-in conditioner when I got out the shower. Then I put oiled and combed my curling cream through my hair for an ultra soft fro.
Are you a morning bed maker?
