Remember that time I treated you all to my phenomenal makeup packing routine! Yeah, well I was actually a little bit a of a packing fool, because I completely forgot to bring any makeup brushes! At first, I was like, “Oh no! My life of glitz and glam is over!” Then, I realized, that my glam lifestyle doesn’t come from fancy makeup tools. It comes from my intellect and resourcefulness. I don’t need brushes to do my makeup. I just need my sparkly, amazing mind and a beauty blender.
I used three things to put this look together: my AOA Wonder Blender, my hands, and a really cheap brush that came inside of a terrible brow powder compact, because I could not find a brow pencil. Yes, it’s a little bit of a cheat, but you win some; you lose some.
I don’t own any makeup primers, but I have been trying out this Elf Matte Magic Mist & Set. I spritzed my whole face with it and then went in with my AOA Wonder Blender and the Wet N’ Wild PhotoFocus Foundation. Next, I put on a bit of the AOA Wonder Cover Concealer to cover up the baby darkness under my eyes.
I’ve actually been putting on powder with my blending sponge ever since I saw my YouTube Queen, Jackie Aina, do it some time ago. Essentially, you just dab it into some loose powder and pat it into your skin. You can’t actually bake your face like this (because you’ll need a brush to get the excess off), but you will get a nice coating that melts into your foundation. Just keep patting it out until any powdery spots disappear.
Lastly, I took care of bronzer, blush, and highlight. I rubbed my blending sponge in a circle through the bronzer and tapped it into the areas where I normally bronze. The important thing is that you do the same patting motion to blend the bronzer that you would do for your foundation – do not just smear it! Next, I tapped the sponge into my blush – it’s more powdery than the bronzer, which means you don’t have to work hard to pick product up – and then applied it just like the bronzer. Lastly, I put on my highlight using my ring finger. Just dip your finger in the pan and blend in circular motions!
Honestly, this was the most difficult part. I would recommend just doing a one finger sweep across the lid with a shimmy shade that’s close to your skin tone, but I am a fool and tried to hit myself up with some shades in the crease.
I began by blending Peanut Butter from my Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly powder onto my lid and up into my crease with my ring finger. For this, I actually did’t pat, as much as I just rubbed my eye back and forth and in some circles. Next, I went in with Nuts About U and applied it with the same technique, but only on the outer portion of my crease. Lastly, I took the shade Peanut Butter Cup and patted it on the lid for a soft glow.
Then I did my eyebrows, where I cheated by using a really terrible brush to put on some eyebrow powder. These brows originally looked terrible, because the brush was too thick for any precision. I cleaned them up a lot with the AOA Wonder Cover Concealer, which I patted to blend out with my middle finger.
Finally, I went in with this CYO Length Mascara that I’ve been experimenting with. This one is pretty self-explanatory.
This is also fairly self-explanatory. I used the Ulta Matte Lip Cream in the shade Courageous. It’s very neutral, which is good because this look is pretty soft and subtle – as long as you ignore my brows!
Have you ever tried a brush free routine?
