June is over! I don’t quite know if I’m happy or sad about that, to be completely honest! Highlights include: starting graduate school, eating a lot of good food, receiving a surprise package from one of my friends, and reaching 500 followers on the blog! Woohoo! Here are some other things this month that have been giving me life!
Wet N Wild PhotoFocus Foundation
I’ve already done a very positive review on this foundation, but I am still in awe of how well it performs in hot, humid weather! I might do a later post going into detail about how to make your makeup last when it’s hotter than 1,000 suns outside, but I’ll give the short and skinny of it here: use less product. Iconic, right? Yes, it means that some of my acne scars are still a bit out and about, but it also means that I can walk 3 miles in this foundation without ruining it. Do I still sweat? Yes. But does the sweat ruin the look of my foundation? No!
Wet N Wild PhotoFocus Concealer
I’ve been having a bit of a sad concealer moment recently. Essentially, every time I would put on concealer, either the AOA Wonder Cover Concealer or the Maybelline Master Conceal, I would have problems getting it to blend and then it would start to separate on my face throughout the day. I thought it was just my skin or the fact that I had suddenly gone from 0 hours a day in direct sunlight to 3 or 4. Turns out, it was actually just the concealers.
I bought this one out of desparation at CVS for $4 and it’s been working great. I prefer a concealer that’s a bit wet and very hydrating (which totally explains why those other two had been flops for me). While this one is still a bit thicker than I’d like, it’s been working like a dream and lasts all day long!
Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel
Does that mouthful of a name sound scammy or what? Let it be know, this product was not a scam! Up until recently, I had been using it as my daily face and neck moisturizer, but I have found a new use: treating mosquito bites! Someone had left the windows to one of my classroom open and 3 mosquito got in, leaving me with about 7 mosquito bites. Usually, I could ignore them, but my body just was not having it! Thankfully I came across this natural remedies article! I just throw this tub in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes and then rub a bit on my bites. Aloe is known for soothing skin irritation and the cooling boost from the fridge helps reduce the swelling!
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Suncreen
I used to be a fool who skipped on sunscreen all the time, mainly because I never went outside. Then I got a new job where I literally spend my mornings baking in the sun and fearing the possibility that I might develop a farmer’s tan. Thus far, my sun exposure has not led to any kind of sunburn or a farmer’s tan, but the fact that these worries were always on my mind let me know that something needed to change. That’s why I started using this SPF 55 sunscreen. It’s not life altering or anything (except it kind of is, because skin cancer is a thing), but I like that I’ve brought it into my morning routine!
I may have been the last person on the planet to see this move in theaters, but I’m so glad I paid approximately $30 for the experience of seeing this film in theaters. If you don’t alreayd know, I’m a huge fan of Marvel movies (well, I love superhero movies in general) and the original Deadpool is definitely in my top 5 favorites from the genre. Deadpool 1 was funny, it was actiony, there was a lot of heart, and the fight sequences were fantastic.
Deadpool 2 was all of those things, except it made me cry. Like, thankfully there were only about 12 other people in that theater and I had a row to myself, because the beginning and end of that movie had me dropping tears in my popcorn. Honestly, it’s all around beautiful film and I can’t wait for it to come out for a personal purchase!
What are your June loves?
Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!
