Last weekend I set out on a quest to make my October dreams come true. I set out to have an autumnal and spook-tastic mini-adventure. I was thinking jack-o-lanterns, skeletons, bats, creepy artwork and more. That’s kind of what I got, but also not.

Pumpkin Picking
If you read my Autumn Bucket List, then you know that one of my goals for this season is to do some DIY pumpkin seed roasting. I already had plans to go grocery shopping on Saturday and thought that this was the perfect opportunity to buy a pumpkin. Boy was I wrong! My local Kroger’s pumpkin selection was weak-sauce! This being said, I won’t be held back! Tune in later, y’all, because my pumpkin hunt will continue!
Monster Market
This is where things get really tragic. A week or two ago, I saw an ad on Facebook for this Halloween pop-up shop. They really played into my middle school gothic dreams – creepy housewares and dark home decor! I was sold! It sounded like HomeGoods for lovers of dark stuff and the occult! I was ready for my Etsy wishlist to come to life!
Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. Everything was kind of like a cute and modern take on spooky, which is fine, but not what I was expecting. On the bright side, they did have some Halloween themed cupcakes, though I didn’t eat them, because I’m scared of food that looks like something other than what it is.
Ice Cream
After the disappointment of Monster Market, I needed a little bit of a pick-me-up so I headed over to Area 51 Ice Cream for a treat that was out of this world. Maybe I didn’t get the monster vibes I wanted, but I figured some subtle alien vibes could be the next best thing.
I wanted to try out their Chai Tea flavored ice cream, but they were out of it. Instead, I tried out a Bourbon Butter Pecan and quickly remembered that I hate the flavor of bourbon! I ultimate I decided to commit to my tried and true flavor: cookies and cream. I love how their base ice cream isn’t just plain vanilla and they use huge chunks of oreo in their mix!
The Nightmare Before Christmas
This was the point where I tried to really revive the Halloween-y elements that I wanted. I will be 100% honest. I am not the biggest fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas. I think it’s kind of overrated and I prefer The Corpse Bride, but this was the movie available on Hulu, so I gave it a watch. This being said, I love a good musical and I love that it isn’t super long! Ultimately, it was a great way to end my (failed) spooky weekend!
How was your weekend?
Thanks for reading!
Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!

I totally feel this! I’ve been in the spooky mood lately, but nothing around here is quite providing that for me.

Glad to know it’s not only me who’s having this experience! Hopefully a fun and spooky event will come one of our ways by the end of the month!
