Liv’s Guide to Sick Day Makeup

I love fall! I love it when the leaves change, the sweaters come out, the shelves are stocked with cider, and I start to feel those autumn chills. Unfortunately, this season kicked off with the wrong kind of autumn chills and I got sick. So, to all of my fellow sicko’s who just can’t let their beauty love die, I’ve got your back. Here is my sick day makeup guide.

Hydrate, Hydrate, and … Hydrate Some More

When I say that you need to be on top of your hydration game, I’m not joking. Drink tons of water and prep a cup of tea with honey. While it brews, I like to go in with two moisturizers. I start with my Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera Gel and the use an Equate Moisturizer, concentrating it around my sad, raw nose.

Conceal with Care

The trick for the face is to get as little product on the nose as possible, because it will literally be lost to some Kleenex 5 minutes later. I do a very light layer of foundation everywhere except for my nose. Then, I pop a ton of concealer under the eyes. Then, whatever little bit of product that’s left on my blending sponge gets tapped onto my nose.

Lock It In

Being sick makes my skin the oddest combination of dry and oily, so I always make sure to set my whole face with loose powder. Then, I set my nose heavily to try to lock in the tiny bit of product there. More importantly, it let’s me trick myself into believing that I my nose has extra protection from chafing!

Go Easy On the Eyes, Heavy on the Brows

I don’t really have watery eyes when I’m sick, but I do know that it’s super easy to contaminate eye products. Because of that, I layer of on the mascara and leave my lids bare. To make up for it, I put a lot of effort into my brows. I fill them in with my Elf Cream Eyeliner in Coffee, clean them up with a concealer brush, and set them with gel.

So there it is folks! My easy, peezy, lemon-squeezy (yes, squeeze some lemon into your tea) sick day makeup routine. No lipstick (for fear of contamination), no blush (for fear of looking too flushed), and no highlight (for fear of looking too shiny). The only thing to make this easier is to just skip the makeup all together!

What’s your ultimate cold remedy?

Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!
