Hey, y’all! My skin is dying of dehydration right now! I’m talking, every time I wash my face at night and then smile in the mirror, a million tiny cracks of dryness pop up all over my skin. Of course, I smile through the pain of my crusty existence, but I’ve really been doing my best to reverse it. Here is the current formula for my winter skincare routine.
A recent change that I’ve made to my skincare routine is that I don’t use makeup remover wipes anymore. I know. I’m shooked as well. I literally just use cleanser. I’ve been using my tried and true Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam from the Face Shop. It has rice water and moringa oil in it, so it breaks through all the makeup and dirt on my skin without drying it out. Plus, it’s only $6.50 on Amazon!
The second change that I’ve made is that I’m back to using my Equate Dry Skin Cream rather than my Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel. Normally, the Dry Skin Cream is a bit too heavy duty for me, but I need that glow and that sheen these days. I really put it on kind of thick at night and when I wake up in the morning I’m good to go! That being said, if I do want a dewier makeup look, this is a good product to put on right before foundation!
Really, the name of the game is Exfoliation & Hydration. I talked about my DIY scrub in my 3 Steps to a Smooth Shave post a few months back and it does my face just as good as it does my legs. That being said, it should be used in moderation because sugar crystals can be harsh on the skin. I’ve also been really into hydration based sheet masks and currently have a few from Shop Miss A on the way!
As you may have noticed, my winter skincare routine is really short! I find that using less products really allows me to focus on my moisturization grind. Plus, I’m really, really lazy and a short routine is a routine I can fully commit to!
