Take Your Hot Cocoa from Basic to Bossed Up – Blogmas Day 15

If you came here thinking that I was going to give you a recipe for the perfect made-from-scratch hot cocoa, then you done goofed! I’m a really basic lady who needs really basic, pre-packaged hot cocoa mix. This being said, I have learned that you can still finesse your basic hot chocolate. Here are three ways to take your hot cocoa from basic to bossed up!

Use Milk

So you know when you’re looking at the instructions on your hot cocoa packet and they’re like, “add water or milk”? Well, I’m here to tell you that they are lying! The only acceptable addition is milk (or almond milk if you’re a lactose intolerant queen like me)! It will instantly level up the flavor of your cocoa and make it extra rich!

Swirl in a Candy Cane

Get your packet, get your hot milk, and snag a candy cane off of your tree, because we’re about to make some peppermint hot chocolate y’all. This one is easy peazy lemon squeezy, because you literally just mix everything up with a candy cane until it dissolves!

Add Some Eggnog

Eggnog is a pretty controversial holiday drink, but I am here to say that it is one of my faves! It’s creamy! It’s delicious! And it will rock your world when you mix it in with your hot cocoa! Just make your hot chocolate like normal and then add in a splash of ‘nog!

Caramelize It!

After you’ve put everything together, mix in a spoonful of caramel sauce that you would normally drizzle on top of your ice cream. Top it off with some whip cream and if you’re feeling extra fancy, do another drizzle and sprinkle a pinch of salt on top!

How do you jazz up your cocoa?

Thanks for reading!

Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!
