Hey, y’all! I’ve recently found myself with a whole bunch of extra time on my hands in the morning due to winter break! I started this month by waking up before the sun was out and now I get to wake up after the sun has said all of its hellos! I’m trying to enjoy this extra morning time while I still can and am here today to show you how I am doing that! Here is my new winter morning routine!
Check the Phone
Oh, yes! I am that girl. Every morning, I wake up and the first thing I do is check my phone – mainly because I sleep with it under my pillow! Also, I’m still so used to having to wake up at 6 AM to do stuff that my brain is always like, “Hit the alarm! Hit the alarm!” After I have that freak out, I check my sleep on Samsung Health, scroll through Instagram a bit, and then look at the news stories that Google recommends to me (fun fact: they’re ALL Marvel and 90 Day Fiance related).
Watch a Program
After I’m all caught up on “the news” I usually watch some Netflix or Hulu. So far, I’ve gone through 2 Christmas episodes of The Office, John & Chrissy’s Legendary Christmas, and A Cinderella Christmas. I usually only watch them in 20 – 30 minute segments, which means that I can spend days watching one program.
Clean + Shower
On a normal day, a huge part of my morning routine is making my bed. Now that I have so much morning free time, I like to up the ante and spruce up my room a bit. I don’t do a deep clean or anything, but I do put anything that’s sitting out away. Then, I go and take a shower, because … hygiene is cool.
Breakfast with Alexa
On most days, I like to whip up a protein packed breakfast. I do 2 slices of turkey bacon and then either a fried egg or a mushroom, onion, and bell pepper omelette. Then, I brew up some tea or a cappuccino. While everything cooks up, I wash dishes and listen to either a Christmas album on my dad’s echo dot or some non-Marvel news from the latest episode of NPR’s Up First podcast.
How do you start your mornings?
