It’s the Friday before Christmas and I should be out living my best life! I should be roaming the stores for the perfect last minute gifts for my grandparents and downing mugs of my favorite hot cocoa-eggnog mix. Instead, my body said, “Hah! You thought!” I randomly got ill last night – potentially after being betrayed by some mayo from my favorite restaurant, Subway – and have spent the day trying to overcome it! Here is my guide to a not-so-festive sick day!
My motto is, “you can’t be sick if you’re not awake.” I’ve spent most of the day unconscious and unaware of the world. When you’re sleeping, you’re giving your body extra time to repair itself and I need all of the repairing that I can get right now!
Yes, you read that right. Movie – singular. I’ve spent the day watching Captain America: The First Avenger which is what I watch whenever I’m not feeling my best, physically or emotionally. Nothing cheers me up quite like watching Chris Evans’s Captain America defeat evil! Because I’ve been sleeping so much, it’s taking me a really long time to get through the movie, but that’s a-okay! It’s a movie that’s worth taking a day to watch!
So I googled what to eat when you’re sick and have put myself on the BRAT – Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast – diet. Thankfully, I really like eating toast and bananas so this hasn’t been too much of a problem!
Thank you all for rocking with me on this very boring sick day! My goal is to be back up and running (but probably just walking) by tomorrow or Sunday!
