Merry Christmas Eve’s Eve y’all! I join you all tonight snuggled up under a warm blanket, glass of eggnog beside me, and Holiday in Handcuffs on the television! Today has been ridiculously stressful (my car is currently down one door handle after today’s events), so I wanted to do a post to get me back into the Christmas spirit! A couple of weeks ago, one of my favorite bloggers, Paige of Currently Lately, did The Christmas Tag and I’ve decided to “tag” myself and answer the Christmas questions she picked!
What is you favorite Christmas movie?
This is so hard! I love cheesy Christmas romcoms, like Holiday in Handcuffs and A Christmas Prince, but I think my favorite film leans more “classic” with The Santa Clause. If you want to read my full list of favorites, though, you can here!
When do you start getting excited for Christmas?
I know some people like to contain their excitement until after Thanksgiving, but I’m stoked for Christmas come November 1st. Like, fall who? Thanksgiving what?
What is your favorite Christmas song?
I don’t think I have a top favorite! Right now, I’m obsessed with all versions of “O Holy Night,” but it really changes all the time. I also have a list of all the ones I’m currently enjoying here!
Do you prefer Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Christmas Day! That’s when there’s the best food and I get to give all my gifts to my family! It does make me a little sad though, that I know it’s the last day of festivities.
Candy canes or gingerbread?
Candy canes all the way! Gingerbread is okay, but if I never could never eat it again, I’d be completely fine with that.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Oh, fake all day, baby! Pay for a new tree every year? Do maintenance? I don’t think so!
What is your favorite winter activity?
I love baking in the winter time! I always make too much and it’s hard to pass it off to my friends during the summer, but during the winter, everyone is always happy to take an extra cookie!
What is your favorite holiday food?
Kind of obsessed with my Granddad’s mac and cheese! My mom tries to do his recipe every year, but there’s nothing better than eating it crafted by his hands!
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
I’ve had a few light white Christmases! Apparently, a white Christmas requires an inch of snow by 6AM, which is very unlikely in the Southern U.S. That being said, I have had some snow on Christmas many times!
Do you like to get dressed up on Christmas Day?
I like the idea of getting dressed up, but I’m not in a fancy family so I usually don’t get to!
Peppermint or eggnog?
Oh, eggnog, of course! It’s delicious and I’ve never come across an eggnog favorite drink that I didn’t like.
What’s your favorite thing to do around Christmas time?
I like to try to watch as many Christmas movies as I can!
When buying gifts, are you a procrastinator or do you get your shopping done in advance?
I do a bit of both! Most years, my dad and I go half and half on a spectacular gift for my mom, which requires a lot of early, strategic planning. Despite that, I still always find myself on the hunt for a few last minute gifts.
Are you a good present wrapper?
Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I’m pretty amazing! I also love wrapping gifts, so I actually wrap almost all the Christmas presents under my family’s tree (minus the ones meant for me)!
Do you have a favorite ornament or holiday decoration?
My parents have these handmade wooden ornaments that they have retired from their tree. They all look like little Santas and snowmen and nutcrackers and I’m totally stealing them next year!
White lights or multi-colored lights?
White lights! They are classy and a classic!
How old were you when you stopped believing in Santa?
I think I was 8 or 9. My mom told me the hard truth because she didn’t think she’d be able to afford the extra gifts. That being said, I did still get gifts from Santa that year and the next!
How early do you start putting decorations up?
The day after Thanksgiving! It’s a family tradition!
When do you take your decorations down?
The day after New Year’s! Another family tradition!
What is your favorite holiday drink?
If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m kind of obsessed with eggnog!
Do you countdown to Christmas?
I used to, but not so much since I’ve been in college. I love advent calendars, so I want to invest in a few next year so that I can start counting down again.
What do you have on the top of your tree?
Currently, nothing, but my tree is usually topped with a light up bow!
What is your favorite holiday scent?
At this time of year, I love to have a lot of cinnamon scents going!
What’s one thing on your wishlist this year?
I only specifically asked for one thing this year: the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill The Vault palette in Ring the Alarm. I’m in love with eyeshadow!
Do you like shopping for gifts?
Yes! Getting presents is fun and all, but I love giving gifts even more! All November and December long, I turn my listening ears on so that I can find of what stuff my loved ones need. Sometimes I buy things they specifically ask for, but there’s nothing better than buying a gift that the recipient didn’t even know that they wanted!
What’s your favorite winter seasonal drink? (P.S. I am quite partial to Starbucks’s Chestnut Praline Latte)
Thanks for reading!
Until next time, have an awesome rest of your day and an amazing rest of your week!
