$1 Dream Blender? Microfiber Wonder Blender Review!

Hey, y’all! If you saw my last post, then you know that I recently dropped a small amount of cash at my favorite online budget beauty spot: Miss A! Included in that collection of gems was this microfiber blending sponge. I’m no microfiber sponge expert, but I do know that they’re supposed to be velvety smooth and soak up less product for a full coverage foundation application. Well, my sponge is here, I’ve tried it out, and I’m ready to share my full thoughts on AOA’s Microfiber Wonder Blender!

The Deets

I picked this sponge up from the Miss A website for the low, low price of $1.55 (the latter $0.55 going to animal charities). Mine is a grey-blue color, tear dropped shaped, and the texture of the South Pole velour tracksuit I rocked in 7th grade! Regardless of if it’s wet or dry, it stays around the same size as a regular damp blending sponge (that meaning, it doesn’t grow much). It claims to use its “fuzzy” texture to create an airbrushed finish.

The Boohoos!

I don’t really have any big gripes with this sponge, so I will frame these more as things that surprised me when I got the sponge. First of all, the sponge doesn’t grow much. I’m used to adding water to a sponge and then it takes on a whole new life. This one gets a little bigger and a little softer, but not to the extent that I’m used to. Secondly, it’s really hard to clean. Online they do say that it’s best to clean it right after using it, but who does that? Not me! And that’s why mine will be forever stained by my liquid highlighter!

The Hurrahs!

The main draw of the microfiber texture is that it doesn’t soak up that much product. I think that it’s less porous than all of my other sponges, which explains why it doesn’t grow as much or get quite as squishy. That being said, it is not without reason. My foundation does have more coverage when I used this sponge! Also, this sponge is just really fun to play with and feels really good bouncing across my face!

Ultimately, my feelings about this sponge are just kind of, eh. It does what it sets out to do, in terms of providing more intense, smooth coverage, but it’s also like a solution to a problem that I never had. I actually like that my sponges soak up some of my product because it keeps me at that smooth medium coverage that I like. That being said, if you want to get the absolute most out of your foundation, then this might be the sponge for you!

Are you a microfiber fiend?
